Time for an overview of a tricky condition to have Time for an overview of a tricky condition to have: lumbar spinal stenosis.

Our PTs have published research on this and continue to so we can get a little bit wiser here.

Overview 👉LSS is an imaging diagnosis. The symptoms often associated with LSS are pain/tingling/numbness in the buttock or legs, which is called neurogenic claudication. We think this occurs because of a lack of blood flow and probably some swelling at the nerve root as it comes out of the lateral canal.

For most people, it exists without causing any problems. Like any condition, it can wax and wane or come and go over time. When it does come on, which his only in about 20% of people who have it, then there are some key nonoperative things to do.

First of all, we need to ensure you understand this really isn’t that serious. Some research shows there is a big threat value associated with stenosis in people who have had surgery and they don’t get a lot of education from doctors. How do you control the symptoms throughout the day? There are simple tricks.

Manual therapy and exercise also appear to work pretty well, but this can be a tough condition to crack. Combining multiple interventions and even sometimes medication or anesthetic injections can help. Surgery should be reserved for those with severe neurological compromise and who have not responded to conservative treatment!

➡️ THE SECRET IN-NETWORK CLINICS DON’T WANT ➡️ THE SECRET IN-NETWORK CLINICS DON’T WANT YOU TO KNOW.

We get asked all the time “do you take my insurance?”

Behind that question lies a lot of things people REALLY want to know, like “how much will this cost me?” (which is actually a completely different question).

😳While we communicate with EVERY insurance and help EVERY patient, we don’t sign contracts and send bills to every insurance company out there. Some, but not all.

😈 WHY? Well, our system is messed up. This post from an in-network business owner shows why. First of all, he is 100% right and I find his take completely refreshing.

➡️ Fact is, in-network clinics aren’t serving YOU, they’re serving the insurance company. The insurance company is their customer, not you. But they don’t want you to know that 🤫

I know, it’s messed up. Imagine you have a relationship where you think you’re dating someone, but they’re really dating someone else. What could go wrong?

Phone calls from a billing department person you’ve never met? Surprise bills? Ornery office staff? Checked-out therapists not willing to fight for you and what you want? Feeling like a cog in the machine? ⚙️

…well, there, that’s kind of what you are. That’s what your insurance company decided you deserve.

💪 We decided to stand against these pressures and start a company that put YOU and our relationship at the center of decisions, the way it should be.
