He listened to me and I felt fully supported
I woke up one morning, shifted in bed, felt excruciating back pain and found myself barely able to walk across the room. Over the next week my left thigh was numb and weak and I was unable to go further than 15 feet, in my all bent over walk, without stopping or crawling. An MRI showed a ruptured disc at L3-4 with changes that put pressure on my nerve and I was told I needed an epidural. I knew I did not want an epidural, surgery or to develop chronic back pain. I wanted to treat my back with physical therapy and take the time for it to heal. I asked friends and colleagues for recommendations for a Physical Therapist who was excellent with back issues. Seth Peterson’s name came up multiple times, from physical therapists, medical colleagues, family and friends. He listened to me and I felt fully supported.
Seth is extremely knowledgable. He took time and did an excellent job evaluating and treating my back. He is astute, thoughtful, communicates well and sets progressive and realistic expectations. He answered all my questions and any concerns I had. After 2 1/2 months I was able to return to work part time and at 3 1/2 months I was working full time, dancing, hiking short hikes and short jogs. At six months I am dancing, hiking and mountain biking again. I am pain free and I know I won’t develop chronic back pain or issues. I am eternally grateful to Seth’s expertise, compassion and commitment to care. We are fortunate to have a physical therapist with so much expertise in back issues in our community. Thank you Seth! -Shauna McIsaac, MD
